Sony has announced that “Spider-Man: No Way Home” will release on digital March 22 on 4K UHD and Blu-ray on April 12. Sony marked the occasion by recreating an iconic spider-man meme where Tom, Andrew and Toby point their finger towards each other on Twitter. By now the photo already has more than 80k retweets and the number keeps on rising.
On Wednesday, the official “Spider-Man” film account Tweeted the picture, writing, “Of course, we got THE meme.”
The meme is inspired by an episode of a ’60s cartoon in which two Spider-Men point at each other as one villain impersonates Spider-man. Sometimes, the meme also features three Spider-Men.
No Way Home includes a moment in which the three Spider-Man characters point at each other in homage to the meme, but it’s not a perfect re-creation like the one posted Wednesday.
Since it’s official release in December 17, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” has grossed $772 million at the U.S. box office and $1.8 billion globally. It is the highest-grossing Spider-Man film thus far.
“Spider Man- No way Home” is nominated for a best visual effects Oscar.
