In Nova Scotia, Canada, battle rapper Pat Stay age 36 was fatally stabbed. Early Sunday morning, police reported an incident in downtown Halifax. Stabbing wounds were found on Stay, who died later in a hospital.
Homicide has been ruled as the cause of his death, and an investigation is underway. As of yet, no arrests have been made.
Eminem wrote, “hip-hop lost one of the best battlers of all time … RIP @patstay .. KINGS NEVER DIE.”
Another Canadian rapper, Drake, commented on a recent song Stay released, writing, “Pat Stay’s definitely one of, if not, the best.”
CNN reports that Stay was a father of two young children, according to a GoFundMe verified by the platform. Funds raised by the campaign will go towards funeral expenses for the family.
“We are raising money for the family of our fallen brother by setting up this fund.
It is tragic that Pat Stay was taken from us far too soon. He was an honorable man heading for a bright future,” the fundraising page reads. At this time, our hearts ache for his family and friends. We hope to ease some of the pain by providing assistance to his family.”
