As of now, most of you may have already watched Netflix’s new hit series “Squid Game.” The new series is refreshing and mind-boggling at the same time.
I became so obsessed that I binge-watched the whole series in just one day (Yeah! I like to be rebellious sometimes). In episode 3, the contestants are given honeycomb candy and a needle. Their task is to cut the shape out of the honeycomb. Let’s say a lot of honeycombs are stained red in this game.
Honeycomb candy, also known as Dalgona Candy, is a traditional Korean sugar candy made with sugar and baking soda.
Thanks to “Squid Game,” Tiktok is filled with people trying to make their versions of the candy (#honeycombchallenge). While some are successful and some have failed in curbing the shape out, we can rest assured that no one has died yet.

Today we are going to make the Dalgona Candy according to the recipe in the series. To make Dalgona Candy, you will require the following items:
- Pan
- Sugar
- Baking Soda
- Parchment Paper
- Chopstick or spoon
- Cookie Cutter
How to make Dalgona Candy?
Making the candy is incredibly easy as it takes only 5 minutes. Here’s how to make the candy at home:
- Put 3 tablespoonful sugar in pan.
- Place the pan on stove and turn the heat high
- Stir the sugar until it is caramelized (make sure it doesn’t burns or turn black, otherwise candy will taste bitter)
- Turn off the heat
- Add a small pinch of baking soda and stir
- Pour the mixture on parchment paper wait for 30 seconds to cool down
- Use your cookie cutter to have desired shape.
