Caeleb Dressel has left his mark in this year’s Tokyo Olympics. The dynamic swimmer has won 5 Gold medals for Team USA in swimming. This feat is not easy to achieve as lots of swimmers are unable to do so.

Dressel won 5 gold medals in the following race:

Event Medal
4x100m freestyle Gold Medal
4x100m medley race Gold Medal
100m free style Gold Medal
100m butterfly Gold Medal
50m free style Gold Medal

Caeleb is a successor to Michael Phelps as he can swim freestyle, breaststroke, and butterfly, just like Michael Phelps. He is on the top with Michael Phelps, Mark Spitz, and Matt Biondi.

Not only did he broke his former world record in 100-m freestyle in this Olympics with a blazing speed of 47.26 but Dressel can recover faster between races along with high endurance capacity.

However, competing at such an extreme level is pressuring for him. He said he couldn’t sleep right nor take a nap, and he was shaking all the time. Dressel must’ve felt anxious and on-edge all time because of such extreme competition.

“I probably lost 10 pounds. I’m going to weigh myself and eat some food when I get back. It’s a lot of stress we put on the body”, he added.

Dressel said that he’s going to have little time off swimming because he was tired.

At just 24 years of age, he is a rising star of the whole sports who has set a legacy for other competitors to follow. However, from the early age of 13, Caeleb’s talent was exposed when he beat the 50m freestyle record at Junior National Championships in Palo Alto.

In the 2017 World Aquatics Championships in Hungary, he dominated the competition by winning seven gold medals. He became the first athlete to get three gold medals in one night in that event.

Similarly, in the 2019 World Championship, he won 6 gold medals by leaving everyone behind with his exceptional skills.
