Yoga and weight loss, these topics though debatable has been linked together over time. So, the most important question. Does Yoga help lose weight? Absolutely 

When you imagine Yoga, the mental picture is calm and collected breathing techniques not exactly calorie-burning or cardio pumped workouts. But we know looks can be deceiving.

History
Yoga has a rich history tracing back to thousand of years. It was also mentioned in Vedic Sanskrit hymns, the Rigveda.

People have been practicing this traditional technique to build a stronger connection between mind and body. But Yoga has various benefits besides calming our chaotic mind. A regular practice combined with proper and healthy diet can not only help lose weight but has other significant benefits.

2. Chaturangadandasana – Low Plank Pose

If you wish to strengthen your core, plank pose is the right way to do it. This asanas targets your triceps, biceps, wrists, core muscles and quadriceps. Trying this pose once a day just for few minutes can help achieve your overall health and fitness goals.

3. Adho Mukha Svanasana – Downward Dog pose

The objective of Adho Mukha Svanasana is to stimulate concentration between mind and body. This asana targets your arms, back, thighs and hamstring and improves blood circulation as well.

4. Trikonasana or   Utthita Trikonasana – Extended Triangle pose

Trikonasana targets the belly and waist fat whilst improving the blood circulation. This asanas is great for burning fats around the belly and building muscles in the hamstrings. However, if you suffer from any chronic back issues, please do not attempt this pose without consulting your physician.

5. Sethu Bandha Sarvangasana or  Setu Bandhāsana – Bridge pose

Another great asana for weight loss. But that’s not all, it is a great hormone regulator, improves thyroid levels and tones the muscles as well.
